Chris Gilbert has spent a lifetime between the pipes, earning a reputation as one of the most seasoned and steady goaltenders to skate at the hometown rink. His hockey journey began in youth tournaments, where he helped his team capture the prestigious Silver Stick International Tournament. As a teenager, he crisscrossed Ontario and the Midwest, chasing competition and collecting experiences that shaped his calm, technical style.
Gilbert’s talent carried him into the USHL, where he sharpened his game against some of the best young players in the country and even earned the chance to dress for a preseason AHL game. Later, he suited up for The Ohio State University, holding his own under the bright lights of collegiate hockey.
Though a goalie by trade, Gilbert’s vision and puck-handling set him apart — he’s famous for tape-to-tape outlet passes that turn defense into offense in a heartbeat. Teammates say he slows the game down in the crease, reading plays like a chess master while everyone else scrambles at checkers speed. Off the ice, he’s known for his old, patched-up gloves — a nod to his loyalty and love for the game.
Now skating at the local rink, Chris Gilbert brings that same composure, grit, and veteran savvy to every game — proof that you don’t need the pros to see professional-level hockey.
