Bennett Hartzler is one of our younger players, still growing into his frame and figuring out the pace of Bender hockey. He never skated in elite junior leagues or flew to showcase tournaments — his career to this point has been rooted in house leagues, small-town jamborees, and hours on frozen ponds. What he lacks in pedigree, he makes up for in energy and a genuine eagerness to learn.
Every game is still wide-eyed for Hartzler. He listens to the veterans, asks questions, and soaks up advice like a sponge. His hands are raw, and his stride still a bit awkward, but every now and then he flashes surprising instincts — jumping a pass, making the smart dish, or finding the open ice like a seasoned pro.
Teammates love his enthusiasm. He shows up early, stays late, and never complains about ice time. His mismatched gear — one glove from one brand, another from somewhere else — tells the story of a kid just piecing it together, but also of someone who simply wants to be on the ice. Bennett Hartzler may be the rookie, but everyone in the room knows he’s got a bright future if he keeps grinding.
