Brian Heiss has always been defined by his legs. Long before he refined his shot or figured out defensive positioning, he was simply the fastest kid on the ice — the one who could blow past defensemen before they knew what hit them. That speed carried him into junior hockey in Western Canada, where he logged a season of highlight-reel rushes and even earned a spot in the storied Mac’s U18 Tournament in Calgary.
Heiss spent his teenage years hopping flights and buses to showcase events in Boston and Minneapolis, testing his wheels against the best prospects in North America. He didn’t always light up the scoresheet, but scouts remembered the blur of his jersey streaking down the wing.
These days, Brian still plays the same way: head down, knees pumping, barreling wide with reckless abandon. His hands haven’t always caught up to his feet — there are more than a few breakaways that end with the puck sliding harmlessly into the goalie’s pads — but no one creates chaos quite like him. For opponents, he’s a nightmare; for teammates, he’s the spark that can change a game in a single stride.
