But when he finally laced up skates seriously in his late teens, he brought with him the sharp hand-eye coordination and fearless competitive edge that made him a standout in another sport.

He’s logged plenty of miles since then, joining men’s league travel squads that took him to Buffalo, Toronto, and small rinks across the border, where his raw talent and unusual style turned heads. Arnold isn’t afraid of the dirty areas — he plants himself in front of the crease, screens goalies, and bangs home rebounds with a scrapper’s touch.
